Great Mail Day!

I'm am sooo sorry that I did not get any cards done today. My little guy caught another cold but this time it was way worse. The two of us were up all night because he would fall asleep, I would lay him down and then he would roll over and start gagging. Poor little man. I had him in the swing to keep him upright but he still kept waking up every now and then. So the night consisted of swing on, fall asleep, swing off, sleep 20mins, wake up screaming, swing on...you catch the drift. A very sleepless night. And then today he didn't want to take any naps or else he might start choking again...he finally fell asleep at 8:30pm tonight. I held him for quite some time and then put him in the swing, so far so good. "Knock on Wood"

Well enough of that. I didn't get anything done but I did get lots in the mail. I am in the process of wrapping up a Bella Image swap on SCS so these are slowly trickling in. Along with a couple of swaps I received a card from one of my SBS22 Sisters and cards from a swap that I had particiated in (I'll post photos of those tomorrow).

First here is a friendship card from my SBS22 Sister, Deborah(Megan). Thank you Deborah! Oh and thanks for the paperclips too :-)

And I also received this lovely card from Janet (corrosive69), she is the hostess of the swap I participated in which was Rockabella cards. Believe it or not but there is a 3D paint or such on the bunny slippers and her rollers, Very Cute!!

My Bella Sister

I got my first card from my new Bella Sister, Jacqueline. She sent this awesome Cosmobella card and some great images...take a look. Thanks Jacqueline!!

This is my new absolute favorite saying...I think it's going to make a great card.

I had a chance to do a little colouring today while Jonathan was napping. This is my first Teddybella. I'm making a card for a special girlfriend that is expecting. Love it!!
And I just had to share a little something with you...this morning I asked Madison to make her bed and didn't think anything of it. When I was walking by during the day I had to take a double take, see for yourself....
The funny little girl posed her unicorns on the middle of the bed. I know the rest is really messy, she's only 6 and can't even reach accross the bed. It's all about the effort, lol.

Flowers or No Flowers

I made this card with a Frizzybella which I received from one of my fellow Splitcoaststampers gals. It is stamped on glitter cardstock so I wasn't sure how the colouring would look. The marker bleed a little bit but I think it still looks great. Now the only question is...do you like it with the flowers or without. I had them set out to add to the card and was thinking rhinestones in the middle of the white one, but then when I laid them out I wasn't sure if it was too much. What do you think?

The ribbon is misc not sure where it came from and the glitter cardstock is DCWV of course, have you noticed that I kinda have an obsession with this stuff :-) Frizzybella is from Stamping Bella and the saying is from one of my Studio G $1.50 sets from Michaels.

A couple of cards to share...

I got the chance to colour in another Sarah Kay image that I received from my stamping sister Jhet. I really like these and so excited that one of my lss is looking into getting them, yah me! So this card is really simple, It is a kraft cardstock base with the stamped image and some metal corners (from the dollar store) and a little bit of ribbon. Very simple yet very nice.

And then here is another simple yet elegant anniversary card using SU stamps. Can't remember the name of the set, Garden Collage or something like that. Again I used a metal corner that I had, one of this items that I was hording and didn't want to let go. Use it or lose it, hehe.

Back to my Stampin' Up! Roots

Well I got some quality time in my stamp room today and decided to go back to my Stampin' Up! roots for these cards. When I first saw The Wheel Thing set (from the internet as it was retired), I said "I want it, must have it". I was finally able to find it online from someone that was cleaning out their retired sets (on Kijiji). But this is the first time I've inked it up and they looked like they were never used :-)

My idea with these was to put flowers on each of them like they were planters. I used the In Full Bloom set for the flowers. Love it!! Here's a close up of each of them...

I was going to add some of my mini rhinestones into the flower centres, but I forgot. I'll have to do that tomorrow. I think my favorite is the scooter, how 'bout you?

Christmas with Penny Black

I was hoping to get some christmas cards done today but I was not able to. I did get some images coloured, glittered and matted. All I have to do next is make the card and add the sayings. Shouldn't take too long :-)

These are some of my new Penny Black christmas stamps, first time I'm inked them up. I really love them. I'm going to have to make more.

Someone got spoiled at the fair

Every year we take our little Madie to the fair. She absolutely loves it and looks forward to it every year. She loves the rides and was so excited that she could go by herself this year, but I think her ultimate favorite is the games. She loves to win stuff. This year it was a little rainy so there was not very many people there, which is the best time to go. It feels like the game operators feel a little more generous since there isn't much traffic. Well this year Madison played her own games (not just the ducky picking game), she played balloon darts and with a little cash assistance from Daddy, she won the biggest unicorn! You should have seen her face, she loved her Daddy so much tonight. Here's a pick of her and all her winnings...six in total!
And here's a pick of "the best Daddy ever", may not be a flattering picture, but shows his personality to a T.
Yes that is a mini donut in his mouth. You can't go to the fair and not get mini donuts. Tomorrow I should definately have something crafty to show you, I'm having a friend over to make christmas cards.

A Little Bit of Shopping - Yah Me!!

We have family visiting this week so we decided to take them to St. Jacobs for a little sight seeing and shopping today. Of course I love going there since there is a scrapbook store there. I bought a couple of little chipboard albums and a plastic snowflake album. I just love them, they are so cute. Then when I was at the register I saw that they had a Monthly Surprise Challenge Kit. You purchase it and then create a one or two 12x12 page layout, upload it to the Scrapping Turtle Forum to enter their contest and then wait and see. One lucky winner gets a $10 GC for the store.

I really loved it when I opened it up, great blues and greens. Perfect for a little boy layout. So I'm just showing you the supplies for now and then once my masterpiece is completed I'll show ya.

Jumbo Coaster Album

I picked up these awesome Daisy Bucket papers one day at a lss and just fell in love. They are double sided and have a nice texture to them, almost linen like. The colours are so vibrant!

I instantly wanted to make a coaster album for my daughter out of them. I have these jumbo coasters that are a little bigger than 6" square and are perfect for an album. I used Jumbo eyelets for the corners and hold them together with a chain.

I made custom tabs (except for the turquiose one - SU) and added rubons. Some of the swirls and flowers on the pages are rub-ons from Fancy Pants. These were some of my "luxury" meaning expensive scrap supplies that I really hesitate to use, but I love the way it worked out. Now just to add some photos and journalling and ta-da we are done.

My First "Sarah Kay" and A Halloween Bella

I got these awesome Sarah Kay images from a stamping sister, Jhet and had to colour one in right away. Isn't she beautiful. I was a little messy on my colouring cause I was in such a hurry but I think it still turned out okay. I think I have a special person that would love this card ;-)

I love my prismacolour markers, I think that is my most fav colouring tool. I added some rhinestones to her shirt (where the buttons were), and some sequin flowers with rhinestone centers. The black scallop is popped with pop dots. Can't remember the brand for the patterned paper, it was one of the paper packs from Costco that came in an awesome storage box.

Now this halloween card is an entry for my Bellaholics group. Unfortunately I do not own any Bella Halloween stamps, so I took Cuddlycat and popped a pumpkin (SU) over her body. Don't you just love it. I think she is so cute, she doesn't have any arms but that's okay :-)

The background is made with patterned paper run through the Cuttlebug with the Halloween Spots embossing folder. And then I rubbed black ink directly onto the paper to show the embossing. The ribbon is one that I picked up at Michaels some time ago. I was going to add a "happy halloween" but I didn't think it needed it.

Crayon Resist - quick steal the white crayons while they are sleeping!

One of my most favorite techniques is crayon resist. When I first learned how to do this I ran around looking for all of Madison's white crayons. What does she need them for, you can't see white on white :-) Then she found my white crayon stash and freaked out..."Mom, those are my crayons!!"

So here's a little overview of how to do it...

Supplies: Glossy Cardstock, Stazon Ink, White crayon, Coloured Ink and Sponge Daubers (one of my favorite supplies)

Take your glossy cardstock and stamp your prefered image in Stazon Ink, be very careful because you're stamp moves easily and can blur the image, also try not to touch the glossy side with your fingers too much as you can make finger prints which will show up later.

Once you have stamped your image(s), you take your white crayon and draw on the glossy cardstock where ever you want it to stay white.

Then sponge on your ink with the daubers, you can dab or rub, you'll have to practise a little to start off with.

After you have added the colour if there are any bits of crayon on your image you can rub them off with a kleenex (note to self: don't use kleenex with lotion!).

You can pick one single image or cover a whole sheet to be used on multiple cards, just like a OSW. Absolutely one of my fav's.

SBS22 - September Blog Hop Challenge

This is the first every Blog Hop Challenge for my Sisterhood of the Blogging Stampers group, which is being hosted by Spike. Hop on over and check out her blog...awesome. So the september challenge was to create a 6×6 Fall, Halloween or Thanksgiving Card. That’s it! Use whatever stamps, techniques, paper, etc that inspires you!

So as I was rummaging through my drawers this evening looking for some jumbo eyelets for another project, I found these cute little wooden halloween embellishments. My mom had bought these at the dollar store probably last year or the year before and I just put them in the drawer and forgot about them. Since I made a little resolution this year (to myself) that I would start using the supplies that I have been hording all these years, I thought...excellent these will be great. I love how this card turned out, but it is definately not one to go throught the mail :-)

The base of the card is just black cardstock, followed by a layer of purple handmade paper (purchased at Costco). The next layer is more black cardstock followed by two layers of Magnolia patterned paper, love it. The only stamping is the Happy Halloween, both $1.50 stamps from Michaels. Believe it or not the Happy is from "Happy Holidays".

Now on another note, I just wanted to share why I could never be a hand model, like some other great stampers that like to show off their manacures...note the Tempting Turquois on my finger tips and the Basic Brown on my fingernails. I definately get down and dirty when I'm crafting :-)

First Day of School

Today was Madison's first day of school. My baby is in grade 2 (snif, snif). I remember when she was a little baby like her brother. She absolutely could not wait to go to school. I swear she woke up twice last night in the middle of the night to ask me what she was going to do with her hair and if the outfit she picked out was okay. How cute is that.

Every time there is a special occassion we take her picture outside in our front yard under this tree. This year I had her hold her little brother. He loved looking at all the little kids at school, I'm sure when he gets older he'll want to go with her.She got homework today too, but it wasn't for her it was for me, what?!?!? Too funny. Sorry I didn't do any crafting today, just a lot of napping with the little guy :-)

Merry Monday and a Little Bit of Cupcakes

So alot of my fellow blogging stampers are posting "Festive Fridays" on their blogs so I decided to start "Merry Mondays". Every Monday from now until christmas I will be posting a new Christmas card for you to enjoy.

So for my first Merry Monday I have an awesome shaker card using the very cute Penny Black Hedgies. I love Hedgies, I really wish I could get my hands on some of the older SU Hedgies. This was the hardest thing I've ever done. I really wish there was an easy way to cut circles out of foam. Can you believe that I bought this glitter/bead mix a long time ago at a stamping yard sale. It worked perfectly for this card. Everything else is coloured in with Prisma pencils and baby oil (my sub for OMS - haven't been able to find it yet).

I also wanted to share with you the finished cupcake card. I finished it off by adding some glitter with my new Niji Pearlescent Watercolours (just like H20's but way cheaper - thanks Lisa :-)

The image was trimmed with my Fiskars Paper Shaper and matted with Basic Grey patterned paper, I just can't remember the name of the line it's from.
