Caardvarks - one of my new addictions!

Well after trying the Splitcoast card sketch challenge yesterday...I found a couple of card challenge blogs from one of my new "Sisters" Spike. Well these sites are awesome! The site that I chose to work from today is called Caardvarks, check it out.

The current challenge is two seperate sketches from the artists at 2 Sketches 4 You (I'll show you that site tomorrow). The first sketch by Laura is a nice simple layout. I was actually working on a set of cards to go into a tin and when I saw the sketch I immediately knew that my card would fit in. Here is the sketch and a photo of my card...

Here is the second sketch by Kazan. I had this stamp from The Artful Stamper that I hadn't been able to use yet, so I decided to base my card on the image. Here is the sketch and my interpretation...

I really love the way both these cards came out. If you are ever feeling in a slump and don't know where to start, I definately recommend picking a challenge and giving it a try.

SCS Card Sketch Challenge

Today was a full day. It started off with a major thunder and lightening storm (mommy!) and then I was out to the library with the kids to meet my new friend Lisa (Hey Lisa :-). It was really fun! So then home for lunch and entertaining the kids until dinner and soccer. I thought I'd never get a minute to myself.

I was trying to think of what card to make for today when I realized "Hey what about all these blogs and web sites I stalk daily, they have challenges!" So I decided to visit my favorite site Splitcoast and look at Wednesday's Challenge. Wednesdays challenge is a Card Sketch. Here's the sketch that was given to work with...

And here's what I came up with...

I got this really nice package of patterned cardstock paper from Costco (300 sheets of double sided paper!) and have been itching to use it. It's all very antique looking colours.

Hope you like it!

Sisterhood of the Blogging Stampers #22

Okay so I found this great group online and decided to join. It is the Sisterhood of the Blogging Stampers and it is so good that they've had to break them up into groups of 20 girls, I'm in group #22. The group is to give each other inspiration, challanges and make great friendships.

So here's a little bit about myself for all my sisters out there...

I'm 31 years old, married to my wonderful husband Jeff for 11 years on Saturday! We have two terrific children, Madison is 6 and Jonathan is 5months also on Saturday. I am a working mom but thanks to Jonathan I will be home for the year :-) and able to spend more time on my absolute joy - Stamping!!

I have been scrapbooking for about 12 years now and stamping for the last 2 or 3 years. Of course since I started stamping the scrapbooking has taken a back burner but I really need to get it going again now that I have a second child.

I used to be a Stampin' Up demonstrator but was not able to get a good customer base, I found that the only good customers I had was myself and my mom so as off July 31st I will no longer be a demonstrator. I'm going to go it alone for a little while, work on custom invites, announcements and cards. I have a small room in my basement that is FULL of supplies. I'm also a really good collector, I buy something cause I love it and then I don't want to use it all up so it just sits there. Hopefully being part of this group will challenge me to use some of that stuff that I'm hangin onto.

Well that's all I can think of for now, sorry no cards today - I took a nap with my kids instead :-)

Happy Stamping

Wedding Invites Finally Done

Well all you here me talk (or type) about is wedding invites, and I am happy to say that they are finally done :-) So I wanted to share with you all that I've done. First I'll show you the order that was completed a while ago for a July wedding. The colours were Turquoise and Brown! Love it!!

The above photos show the invite, reply card, place cards, the thank you (which are nugget boxes) and a little memory album that I made as a gift to the bride. You can't really tell from this picture but the Love stamp is embossed with glitter for a little bling.

Here is the current order which will be delivered on Monday. Basic black and white wedding. Very classy!

So this is what I like to do. My wedding invitation prices start at $1.50/invite & reply for a very basic one sheet invite. The folded style (shown in the first photo) starts at $2.00/invite & reply and the above pocket fold is $3.50/invite. The pocket fold includes inserts for Directions, Accomodations and RSVPs. Of course these are the starting prices, if you are interested please feel free to contact me. I also make invitations for birthdays, showers, etc and birth announcements. I will post more another time and also start a gallery on the side to show photos of all the styles available.
Happy Stamping.

Oh How I Love to Colour!

I was still working on the wedding invitation order today, but just had to take a break to play with my new Penny Black stamps. And I have to say that I just love to colour!!
I use Prismacolour art markers, would love to get my hands on some copics but for now the prismacolours are more cost effective. I also found out that I had a Sakura Glaze pen that was clear, so everything you cover looks like it's been laquired. How cool is that.

Here's some close ups of the glaze pen. Sorry about the photo quality, I really need to take my pictures during the day. Unfortunately I am a night owl :-)

Recipe:
Stamps: Penny Black
Paper: Stampin' Up! Regal Rose and Lovely Lilac, Striped Paper unknown
Others: Prismacolour Markers, Sakura Glaze pen, Ribbon unknown, Making Memories Crystal Brad, Rub-ons from the dollar store (oh yah, it's true!)

So I didn't get any cards made today. I'm still working on a wedding invitation order that is due the end of this week. Definately my priority. Here's just a little peak at what 100 invites look like...

But I did say that I was getting more Penny Black stamps didn't I?!?!?
Well you bet your booty...look at these cuties. Can't wait to stamp 'em and colour 'em.

Woohoo!

Let's Get This Going

Here's a little card to get things going. It's a card I made for a swap I joined on my fave Splitcoast website, the goal was to use a Penny Black girl stamp. This is the only one that I have but I'll be getting more soon. Sorry about the quality of the photo, it was pretty late at night. I stamped the image on Glossy Cardstock and coloured in with Tombow markers, it gives it a little watercoloured look. The purple dots are a souffle pen, it kind of pops up a little and gives some dimension.

Recipe:
Paper: Core-dinations Cardstock & Glossy White Cardstock
Stamps: :Penny Black & SU Stem Sayings
Other: Tombow Markers, Souffle Pen, Prima Flower, SU Rhinestone Brad and Ribbon from Michaels Value Bin :-)
Happy Stamping

Note to Self...

when you want to start a blog, it may be a good idea not to do it while you are pregnant, or at least write down your log in and password for it...

Yup that's me, I started a blog quite a while ago and then the pregnancy hormones took over and I had a little bundle of joy. My blog went to pot, but I don't blame the little guy, how can you...he is too cute.

So here I go again. I'm starting fresh and this time I plan on doing it right.
