SYAO Week 13

Yes I'm here with another week and you'll notice that I'm one day early - Procrastinator Sarah is on a role.
Week 13 had a very simple yet elegant layout - I really liked the line of photos all across and remember having some pictures that I took of flowers that were already cut in similar sizes.
 Here the list of embellishments...
fabric or felt
ribbon
photo corners/anchors
3+ flowers
chip-board
3+ patterned papers
transparency
metal embellishment/hardware

And Techniques...
punches (border/corner)
acrylic paint (stamped-brushed-stencil...your choice of application)
distressing
embossing (dry or heat)

So for this one I had these really cute embossed felt flowers that I've been hanging onto and color was perfect with the flowers in the photo - I know you can't really tell here - too much of a hurry to take the pictures and it's late and dark - I used the bathroom cause I thought it was the brightest - nope!!

Photoshop helped but not much.  You gotta see this in person - so very nice.

So my next embellishment was the easy part ribbon and a metal paper-clip.  Then I decided to take one of my chipboard shapes from Maya Road and cut it in half - one for the top and one for the bottom.  I sprayed them with Glimmer Mist and then heat embossed - yes, that was my technique I used - butterflies and the saying.  I had to add a single rhinestone to cover up the hole that was on the chipboard.

Here's my final layout - like I said the color was off from the photo but it is really gorgeous in person and the chipboard shimmers.  Did I mention that I actually used heat embossing as my technique and not my fail safe - distressing!  :-)

Well stay tuned, tomorrow is Challenge #3 from Color Me Scrappy and I have some other little treats that I have been working on that I can't wait to share with you this week.  Maybe even another video!

SYAO Week 12

I am so excited that I have completed 12 layouts in the last 12 weeks by being part of Scrap Your Ass Of over at Paper Secrets.  I have finished more this year than probably the last couple of years.  And I'm still working on some mini albums that I will be sharing with you soon.

So for week 12 here is the sketch that was provided - really super cute.
The list of embellishments didn't change much...you had to choose 4 of the 8 items provided.  Chipboard, transparency, stick pin, twine, metal embellishments/hardware, 3+ patterned paper, 3+ flowers and fabric/felt.

I chose flowers, metal brads, 3+ patterned paper and chipboard letters.  Really like the way it turned out.

All the paper is glittery and metal foiled - very awesome.

Now don't forget to head over to Color Me Scrappy for our second challenge - there's a great prize pack up for grabs!!

SYAO11

It's week 11 of Scrap Your Ass Off and nothing like leaving it to the last minute - and I mean last 30 minutes.  I've been working on some other stuff in the craft room and keep procrastinating.  I don't want to give up though so I stayed up to finish/start the layout for week 11.  Here is the sketch...
And again you chose from the list of eight embellishments and three techniques.  This week there was a little more variety to choose from...

2 or more tags
twine
stick pin
3+ flowers
chipboard
washi tape
3+ patterned paper
metal/foil type embellies

I was looking for photos that were horizontal so that I could stay true to the layout so again here are more photos from our early spring (which seems to be missing) in Grand Bend at the beach.

Here is my metal type embellie, I've been hanging onto this one for a while and decided now was a good time to use it - it's actually resin but it looks metal to me :-)

The tags were inked with Distress Inks, spraying with some water and then stamped with one of my Stampin Up stamp sets.

This one was fun and posted just in time to keep me in the competition!!

Color Me Scrappy - Challenge #2

Okay, so Challenge #1 was a success over at Color Me Scrappy.  There were 25 entries for the first challenge which is amazing.  And it's the 15th of the month so guess what that means - Challenge #2!!

This one was a little hard for me because of the darker colors, I think I still rocked it though :)  Here are the colors for challenge #2.....
Now I have to tell you the story of this layout.  I started out with this awesome sheet of double sided paper (can't remember the brand) it is textured like linen - really cool and the background is all just basically the patterned paper.  So to start off I wanted to add some acrylic paint cause everyone else is using it and really how hard can it be.  Oh yah - very hard!!  I hated it so I ripped it right out of the paper and then - voila!!  I picked up a second sheet of patterned paper that had the darker tones to it and sat it behind and then just fell in love.
The butterflies were part of the background paper and I added some crystal effects on to make them pop.
The picture was not great quality - I think it was actually just a color copy that I printed on my printer but it was something that I want to remember - me graduating grade 8 - oh yah that's me in the blue, what a cute little girl - hehe!

Don't forget to head over to Color Me Scrappy and join in the fun!

SYAO 10

Well it's down to the wire for week 10 of Scrap Your Ass Off over at Paper Secrets.  It's definately been challenging but it is really helping me get some scrapping done.

Again there is a sketch provided and you have to choose 4 of the 8 embellishments listed and one technique.
The sketch was really nice but I decided to flip it because of the size of my photos.  This is when you take your computer screen and turn it to the right - giggle.
I chose twine, stick pin, chipboard and 3+ patterned papers as my embellishments and then my technique is distressing - you may start seeing a pattern here week after week - distressing, distressing yes and distressing.  I really wanted to use acrylic paint as my technique because I've seen alot of layouts with acrylic paint - but alas I do not have any primary colours - only pastels.

And Voila!!

Don't forget you still have some time to get in on the fun over at Color Me Scrappy.

Family is Everything!

Okay, so now I'm thinking I should have taken some still shots for the blog but I couldn't wait and I wanted to share this video right away.  This mini album has been almost a year in the making.

When I got my hands on Tim Holtz distress inks and my non stick mat I just had to make some manilla shipping tags with inking, embossing and inking again.  I pretty much watched Tim's video and then went crazy with the colours that I loved.  I was lucky enough to find some paper in my stash that matched and then pulled out some teal envelopes which just screamed - make me into a mini!!

And here is the results...Family is Everything.

Check out the video and let me know what you think.  It's just a random mini that wasn't made with any order in mind.  I used Cloud 9 stamps that were Memories themed.  So much fun.

Happy Easter!

The Easter Bunny showed up at our house last night and hid some eggs for the kids so I thought I'd share :-)

These are post finding photos - the search was all recorded on video.

Jonathan just loved finding his eggs and then opening the all up to find out what was inside.  He even found some of Madison's but never picked them up.  The Easter Bunny was nice enough to hide polka dot eggs for Jonathan and flower eggs for Madison.  Smart Easter bunny eh?!
Madison wasn't as excited (she's a little under the weather today) but she was all for some free chocolate.
Madison loved to point out that the Easter Bunny was smart to shop at the dollar store - some times she really cracks me up.
Jonathan was very meticulous with his eggs - took his sweet time opening one by one and laying everything out in piles....
Even lined up his eggs in a neat and tidy line...

Gotta love that face - look at those tidy rows and no he did not have any assistance with this.  I did mention he is very particular about things.

And please don't judge me but yes that was 8:51am when he was chomping on a chocolate egg.  It's one day a year and you should know that he didn't even finish it.  :-)
The Easter Bunny also brought the kids Mickey and Minney bunnies from the Disney store.  It took a little while to get the cat to stop licking them last night when the Easter Bunny dropped off their baskets.  They were so cute, their little hoodies come down and their mickey ears are hiding underneath.

Happy Easter!  Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Bling it Out!!

Okay, so I found some new friends :-)
The are the new mini size 1 oz Glimmer Mists - I had the opportunity to grab quite a few at a local scrapbook store that was closing.  How could I leave any of them behind.  I wanted to play with them so badly that I just took out a couple white flowers and started to spray away.

So I started of with Denim Blue and forgot that I had sprayed a chipboard bird the night before with Pomegranite and didn't use a baby wipe to clean off my matt.  So, needless to say that my Denim Blue flowers were trimmed with Pomegranite - it actually turned out really cute.

After that I went crazy and sprayed two and three in each color.
I've been hanging onto these really cool pictures that Madison had done at school which are holographic.  They are really different - you can kind of see the colors in the last photo that I took from the side.

These pictures really don't do justice for the bling factor but to see them in person they pop.

Sharing a little blog candy.

Ok so you have to check out Hydrangea Hippo.  I'm a big fan and she has an awesome Etsy store.
She just shared her first project from her new design team and is giving away one of her DIVA kits that she sells at her store.   The best part is that if you post more than 10 comments with all the different ways you are following or shared her candy then you will be entered into a $100 gift card for her Etsy store.

Can't tell you how much I want to win this!!

Color Me Scrappy - First Challenge

Oh - so exciting.  It's the first Challenge over at Color Me Scrappy.  You ready for it...here are the colors for the first challenge.  So very pretty!!

All you have to do is create a layout using all of the colors shown above and link it to the Color Me Scrappy blog.  By doing this you are entered to win a prize (Canada and US residents only).
Here's my layout with some great pictures that we took at Grand Bend just a couple of weeks ago during our early spring weather.

The background is K & Company patterned paper that came with all the glitter on it - gorgeous.  I added in some photo mats and some super cute handmade paper flags from some Fancy Pants patterned paper from the About a Girl paper line.  The blue punched border was popped up for some texture.

Ok so head over the challenge blog, get crafty and link your layout over there.  Check out all the other talented ladies on the design team and see what wonderful creations they've made.
This is going to be such a wonderful adventure - I am so excited to be part of this great design team.
