Mixed Media Canvas

I've always looked at the mixed media canvas' on the Internet and admired them.  I kept thinking that must be so hard - I don't think I could do that.  But...Madison got an easel and painting supplies for Christmas and is really into painting right now so I thought that we would give it a try.

I bought a value package of 12x12 canvas' as Michaels this morning (yah boxing day).  This is my
first try.  I have to say that I really like it.  PS please ignore that boxes in the background - remember dark basement as craft room :-)

Here is Madison's creation.  She really enjoyed herself and seemed to want to add one of everything from her stash of supplies.  I really love it!  The best part part and most fun was stamping with bubble wrap.

We'll definitely have to give this a try again.

Delinquint Crafter

I know, I've been really bad at blogging.  The holidays have been busy and to be truth full I haven't made much stuff other than some cards and gift tags.  I didn't even get my Christmas albums done that I had hoped to give away for presents.

But I did get out to Scrappin Great Deals to their 3rd anniversary and it was a blast.  The had a ton of make and takes that were put together to make one big project in the end.  I took all mine home to ink them up a little more before putting them together.  Take a look at each of the projects and the finished stocking is at the end.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and have a Happy New Year!  Looking forward to sharing more with you - stay posted.

A Start to Christmas Crafting

Alright so here's what I've been working on for the last month.  I feel so bad that I haven't posted in a while but I've been working, studying and crafting my butt off.  And I have to tell you that I am addicted to christmas and I'm pretty sure that I can make paper boxes in my sleep.  I saw this project made by Kathy at Paper Phenomenon - I love you Kathy!!  I really do idolize her.

Anyways, this is my first Advent Calendar - all made out of paper.  And guess what everyone is getting for christmas :-)  So I made the first one and everyone LOVED it so I had a class (yes with one person - thanks Claire!)  Now Claire loves snowmen so of course we had to tweak it a little and make a snowman.  Did I forget to mention that I got a Cricut Expression for my birthday - yah me!!

Here's the Snowman up close.  And we also added a 25 box.  Mine has velcro on it to keep it closed (added after the picture).  I love how it ended up, so cute.

So then I decided that I had alot of "Countdown to Christmas" paper so I thought I should do up another one.  This one I did with the tree but had just gone out to Walmart and found this super tiny garland (bought it in every colour).  Love, love, love it.  I added another layer underneath the JOY ornament but it got taken away before I could take another picure.

I even added magnets to the back so that they could go on the fridge in the kitchen, note to self: add more magnet to compensate for weight of chocolate :-)  Hope you enjoy them.  I have to get working on christmas cards.

Wedding Album

After finishing the Paris Album I had to tackle my next project which was a wedding gift for my brother who is getting married at the end of the month.  They're actually getting married in Ochos Rios Jamaica (sadly I do not get to go) and then having a wedding reception after they come back.  So I got to work and surprisingly to me I got it done pretty fast.  I have to admit it is pretty much back to basics scrapbook album style but it was fun making it.

And of course to share it I did my next favourite thing - I made a video. View my youtube video here.  I have to say that it is fun to see the views going up on my video and I have my first subscriber!!  I definately plan to share lots more.

Here's a couple of pictures.  I really need to get a photo box made up and use a real camera, I apologize for the quality - I'm just using my webcam on my computer for now.

The patterned paper is from bo-bunny and then various cardstock.  All the bling is dollarstore and then prima flowers used all over.
Enjoy!!  Oh and if David or Jessica are seeing this - SURPRISE!!!

Paris Album

I've been working on this album for a bit.  My mom wanted an album for my cousin Sarah who went to Paris this summer.  We found the super cute box at HomeSense and just knew we had to make an album to go inside of it.
You'll have to go over to YouTube to see the full album.  In the debut of my 2nd youtube video :-)  Make sure you leave a comment to let me know what you think.  I took a close up of the inside of the box, you can't really see it that well in the video.  It was mom's idea to add some stuff on the inside - and especially a feather!
I'm sad to give this one away but I'm sure Sarah will love it.

Happy National Card Making Day

Happy National Card Making day!  I told myself I HAD to make a card today of all days and it only took about 8 hours between hanging out with the kids, making dinner and going to the fair. I'm very happy with it though.  I have been wanting to try a 3D image ever since I saw Mariska's work on the Whiff of Joy blog.

And oh boy it was fun.  Take a look...

Here's some extra photos to show the how to and a close up.  Any section that had another layer on top was coloured in black.  I also used my flower forming stylus to round the edges and help the 3D effect.  I have to say that it really wasn't as hard as I thought it would be and I will definately be doing it again.

Hope you all had a great card making day.

Halloween Mini

So I have been stalking YouTube lately for some inspiration and found this super cute mini by creations by christie and thought "I can do that".

So here's my version. Of course the cover is not complete (I'm starting to think that my blog should be called Elliott's Incomplete Creations) but I wanted to share. When the cover is done I'm going to do a video of it to upload on YouTube.

Here is the overall view. Front and Back page have danglers, middle pages are pockets and then the ones in between have fold out tabs for more photos.

The base of the album is made with black cardstock and then the patterned paper is last years Hooligans line from Bo-Bunny, part of my stash that I have been hanging onto.

You'll have to wait until the video to see the rest. You'll be excited to see that I pulled out my cricut to cut out some letters - that was fun!

Little Over One Month Later...

Oh Wow, Can you bee-lieve it took me that long to finish the bee album. Hehe, sorry had to do it. Well I finally got it done and jammed as many pictures as I could into it. And yes it was fun. I wanted to share the whole thing so instead of posting a million pictures I did a video and posted it to you-tube. My first you-tube video!

Clovermead Album Cover

$15 worth of photos from Costco and we are ready to Bee-scrapping. :-) sorry had too do it....

It's starts off with this super cute resin bee that was given to Madison and I by this wonderful women who owns a scrapbook store in Lambeth (sorry the name has slipped my mind and I can't find it online). We decided to go with a vintage feel because of this cute little bee.

On our visit to Michaels we picked up the $1.50 chipboard Bee album to use as a shape on the front cover.

I covered the bee with paper then three layers of UTEE and cracked it from the freezer, so much fun and I haven't done it in so long.

After that it felt like it needed something else so I added some gold embossing powder to the edges. I loved how it seperated when I heated it a little longer. Hopefully you can see it in this picture.

I decided to use a prima chipboard album that I have been hanging onto. It has an embossed cover which I played with like crazy. I inked it with yellow ink, then rubbed it with some brown chalk ink. Sprayed some glimmer mist and then rubbed it with some metallic paste. It sounds like a lot but it was totally worth it, awesome!!
I cut out the embossed section to make a window so that I could stick a Bee sign in there. Added some prima flowers and Michaels $1.50 roses and voila!

The black sign is a spellbinders that I borrowed for my mom, it was cut out of black cardstock and I used some of the metallic rub on it also.

One page down, 11 more to go. Stay tuned....

Clovermead Bee Farm

We've been spending some quality family time this summer with the kids going to Niagara Falls, Grand Bend and a couple weeks ago we went to Aylmer, Ontario to Clovermead Honey. They have a really quant farm for the kids with a playground, animals and fun stuff.

There wer super cute "Bee" signs all over the place and definately a scraper-tunity. So, after our trip to the Bee Farm the kids and I went to Michaels and bought everything in yellow and black to make our Bee album.

Now we just need to get the pictures developed and get going on our scrappy bee album.

Stay tuned!

Baby Teeth

You are going to love this one - make sure you read the whole story. I made this framed 12x12 for a co-worker husband. She was saying how he goes on and on about the baby, kisses all around, naps on the couch together and lots of cuddling. Now Jayda's teeth have been falling out and daddy has been collecting them in a little jar. Apparently he's been going on and on about doing something to display these teeth so of course I say scrapbooking!! So I put together this beautiful 12x12 with lots of girly bling. The background page is sprayed with glimmer mist and cut out on the glittery swirls to tuck the layers into. I added some prima flowers with pearly bling and of course the acid free memory box which was wrapped with some black lace and flat pearls that I got at Hobby Lobby on a cross border shopping trip.

Isn't this layout beautiful?! Something you would love to display on your wall or bedside table as my co-worker assumed it would be. Cause here's the kicker for you - JAYDA IS A DOG!! Yes you heard it here the baby is a dog, the real baby hasn't been born yet, yes my co-worker is pregnant but the dog is number 1 in her husbands eyes. And guess where the framed doggy teeth are?? Well the only picture of the happy couple that they had displayed on an end table in the living room has been replaced with the 12x12 along with a photo of the super cute Jayda and her 6 little teeth.

You gotta love it!

Spectacular View

March's technique challenge over at Paper Secrets is using stencils with your mists. Which I have never done!! Can you imagine, I had never used glimmer mist with a stencil. So I took out my homemade glimmer spray and a diecut Basic Grey sheet and went to work.
I had this super cool Paintables paper that I have been hoarding for a while - yes hoarding - that I thought would be absolutely perfect. So I went to town on the spraying until I used up all my spray - lol - they are just tiny bottles that I put together one at a time. All the black images are actually pre-printed on the page with all the swirls and the clock. I found the stickers at the dollar store, they just jumped out and said "buy me". And then I added some bling swirls for more glitter. Even the letters are glitter.
Now I'm going to tell you a secret. The only things on this page that didn't come from the dollar store are the paper and the pictures. I know - it's amazing what you can get at Dollar Giant. I did add a little bit of Tim Holtz distress inks on the edge of the 12x12 to antique it a little.

I'm really enjoying the challenges at Paper Secrets! And I hope you are enjoying my projects.

Paper Secrets March Challenge

I joined Paper Secrets - woohoo!!

I'm now part of a forum group and they have some super awesome challenges every month. It's great motivation to get some stuff done. This 12x12 layout was from their scraplift challenge. I chose a layout from the gallery and made it my own. You'll have to go there to check it out.

Paper Secrets

I also made a repurposed file folder that I'll show you tomorrow with some instructions on how I did it.

March Break Project

So I had told myself that this march break I was going to finish the growth charts that I had planned on making for my kids quite some time ago. All that I had started was picking out the patterned paper and cutting down the chipboard. So of course I had a long way to go.
Well, today is friday and guess what?? After being sick again!! taking the kids to the states for an overnight shopping trip and just cleaning up the house in general I've finally "partially" finished Madison's. Now I say partially finished because I still need to cut tags to go into all the pockets and of course add pictures or journaling.

This project is from one of my favorite blogs to staulk. Following the Paper Trail. Laura has some of the coolest ideas and this one is one of my absolute favorites. The album or growth chart is held together with a measuring tape, so that you can put it up on the wall and measure your kids as they grow or put all your memories of your kids growing up if they already are.

At the side of each page is a pocket which will have tags with ribbon hanging off of them. The bottom has charms which Madison picked. A rhinestone heart and a soccer ball, because she loves soccer.

The paper clips on the measuring tape can be used to point out important occassions or just for decoration.

This was really fun. Jonathan's pockets are done, just need to attach them with the measuring tape and do all the embellishing.
