Happy September

I'm so happy that summer is finally here. Madison will be going back to school, hanging out with all her friends, bringing home all the grade 4 drama. Yes, grade 4. Time flies by so fast. Even Jonathan wants to go to school but unlike his big sister he has to wait until he's 4 years old. We'll just have to pretend that he's going to Nana School". Hopefully he doesn't cry too much on the first day of school when he has to go back to the car.

Anyways, have you ever searched and searched for the perfect letters to go with your project but just can't find the right color. Well here's a quick fix for you...
I had some light peach glitter letters that just didn't seem to go with much so I took my sponge dauber and some Only Orange Stampin' Up! ink. Just place your letters on some scrap plastic from a sticker sheet and sponge the color over the sticker. The color just soaks right in and it made my baby peach letters into a saucy orange. Perfect for that project.
This is my newest mini album. Includes 8 pages and 8 journal/photo cards. They were so much fun to make so I did a whole bunch of different ones to sell. (sorry pictures aren't great from the blackberry :-)

My Spooky Box

Madison and I were feely spooky the other day and decided to make a spooky halloween box. This was made with a piece of paper on the bottom and a piece of paper for the top. Oragami style.

When you open the bottom it folds out to a full 12x12 scrapbook page - just add photos.

The top was decorated with flowers and bling around the edge. The halloween brads are from the dollar store. I think I've been hanging onto those for a couple of years, just for the perfect project.
Here's the full page. The orange rick rack is only attached on the edges so that the photos can be tucked in. I love green and purple and orange together.

I've had these glitter letters hanging around for quite a while also. They were specifically for halloween and had skulls, bones and stars. I used the bone as a mouth for my spooky ghost. I used rhinestones for the eyes.

Shopping Goodies

When the cat is away the mouse will play.

Well how true that is. My wonderful husband and daughter have gone to Winnipeg for a visit and Jonathan and I have been left home (without the digital camera). Tonight we went to the local scrapbook store - Scrappin' Great Deals. I love that place. They have a twelve hour sale going on right now.

20 sheets of paper for $4.99 This was a 6x6 paper pad that I just had to have - glitter and bling on half the sheets.

6x6 Mini Decks from Cosmo Cricket - Very cute and just had to have.
Well I just got home and I'm feeling like either I'm too tired to do anything or I'm heading to the basement. I can't decide :-)

Fooling Around and Having Fun

Well I've always really liked the easel cards but have never made one. So of course I had to do it. I chose to use one of my Craftin' Kimmie stamps from Scrappin Great Deals. I thought she was super sassy and had to buy her the day that they were released.

Madison wanted to help me take the picture with my laptop camera and of course had to get in there :-)

Here's a better shot - hopefully you can see some of the detail. I added a second layer with the froggie and use some glossy accents to make him a little slimy. Eeeewww!

Overall happy with my first easel card but need to do more detail.
My next job is to clean up the mess in my craft room after I let Madison and her little friend do some scrappin while I was at work - messy!!

My First Video Tutorial

Okay, so do I have a treat for you today. I was super creative and brave last night and made this mini tutorial video showing how to make the flower accent that I used on my envelope explosion box.

Take a look and let me know what you think!

Envelope Explosion Album

Wow, today was a whirlwind day! My wonderful husband decided last night to take me to Toronto today for a show. Rock of Ages - yes 80's Hair Band music - Rock On!!

Well now we're back home and I'm too tired to craft so I thought I'd share. I'm sharing this super cute explosion album made from envelopes. Yes, envelopes. All of the envelopes are from the dollar store except for the smaller white ones on the inside layer.

Suprisingly this only took two nights and yes it does need a little more embellishing and stamping on the tags, but I'm pretty proud of what I've finished so far.

I have to admit that I've done alot of blog stalking over the last couple of months and have gotten myself addicted to You Tube and Ustream. Very interesting stuff. This album idea is from one of my favorites Following the Paper Trail. Definately a very interesting site.

And my newest passion of the week is making my own hand made embelishments - the other day was flowers.

Hope you enjoyed my album. Feels good to be back to the blogging world.

I'm Back and This Time to Stay!!

Well it's been six months and I truly am sorry but alot has happend.

Firstly we finally moved, it took quite some time to pack up all my scrapping goodies and quite a while to unpack and get reorganized.
Okay so do you remember my old scrapbook room in an unfinished room in the finished basement....

Yes crowded but I really liked the pegboard wall.

So here's the new scrapbook room....yes it is in the unfinished basement - larger windows so it's sunny down there but I have more space to spread out - hehe - and there's a kids corner with a futon and the tv for them to stay occupied while I scrapbook.

So now that I have my new room all up and organized, and I've had some friends over to get my creativity going. I've been doing more scrapbooking which is good because now that Jonathan is 2 - yes 2! - I have finally started his baby album. Yah me!

I promise to keep my scrapping and card making going and sharing with you and maybe in the near future I will be able to get some kits up sale and I'm toying with the idea of doing some video classes - yes scary but I promise you will not see my face :-) hands only.

So, stay tuned and I promise you won't regret it!! I'll be back tonight with some scrappy stuff.

Pocket Full of Hearts

I was trying to work on a spinny card for valentines day but ended up with a pop up card instead. I used these super cute Fancy Pants valentines paper, they are one of my favorites right now.

On the front I used a Unity pocket stamp that I got a while ago and just haven't used yet. I cut out the individual hearts from the patterned paper and popped them up from the heart.

On the inside is just a ton of hearts to show that "my love is overflowing" which I stamped out in Stampin' Up! alphabet stamps. I even added a little scallop label to give a spot for the card to be signed. Not a ton of stamping but pretty good use of patterned paper, I think!!

Here's a shot of the inside, I used Stampin' Up! cardstock in Not Quite Navy and Regal Rose. I think I made the pop-up a little big but it still looks pretty good. My first Valentines card but more to come...

Sweet Treats

I've been hanging onto these tins for a little while, my husband received them in a care package with goodies and of course emptied them right away. So I decided to make some Valentine's Sweet Treat holders. Maybe teacher's gifts?

Sorry the pictures are blurry, I really wanted to post tonight so I used my blackberry instead of the camera. I know better for next time :-)

I used a different part of the patterned paper for each of the tins. It had strips of different patterns on it, love it!

I also wanted to share some exciting news, I have access to a bind it all!! I say access as it is my mom's but it's living at my house for right now, yippee! I made these cute little mini books. Now I just have to get my hands on sime wires.

Here's my cutie boy. He refused to go in his crib tonight and kept pointing over saying "bed" so I thought I'd give it a try. He got up twice, once to close the door all the way, apparently he likes to be alone and then the second time was to pull the string on his music maker. What a sweety!! He pretty much fell asleep within 10 minutes. The only other time he slept in the big bed was when I would carry him in when he was already asleep. He's growing too fast :-(

Mini Paperbag Album

I started this super cute mini paper bag album for Madie's 8th birthday party pictures. I made it with two paper bags and some awesome glitter cardstock paper. Can't wait to get the pictures on there to finish it off.

The opening of the bags hold two pieces of cardstock to add some more pictures and keepsakes from the party.

I even added a little extra on the back to spice it up.

The inside flap has an extra piece of cards to do some journaling on.

The embellishments on the cover use a piece of the glitter cardstock in a scalloped circle punch from stampin' up and a glitter Bella donut.

I'll leave you with a cute picture from the party. We went to Adventures on Wonderland, a great indoor playground with lazer tag.

Guest Designer Call

My super secret dream is to be a designer for a stamp company. Dare to dream.
Well guess what, Whiff of Joy has a Guest Designer Call and it was just the inspiration that I needed to get going. And look what I made...
I decided to make a Valentine's card for my super sweety. I used one of my images of Oakley with slipover cause he's such a cutey. I have to tell you I kinda struggled with the little boy hair cut but I like how it turned out.

Here are the details for the guest designer call. If it's your dream too, then go for it, don't let anything hold you back. And you couldn't ask for a better stamp company to design for. WOJ images are the absolute best!! Good Luck!

Recipe:
Stamps: Whiff of Joy
Paper: Stampin' Up! Not Quite Navy and Fancy Pants Patterned Paper
Others: Prismacolour Markers, Ribbon unknown, Prima Flowers, Crafts Perles, Forever in Time Rub-ons
