Getting Crafty with the Kids

We decided to take a break from carrying things up from the basement to my new room for a little bit of creative relaxation.  So I invited the kids in to do some stamping.

My mom picked up these Local King Rubber Stamp sets at the Heirloom Stamp show in Novi, Michigan.  Madison has been bugging to use them ever since we borrowed them but finding table space has been pretty hard with the craft room move going on.

These stamps are very interesting because they focus on the negative space so that you can color the images with water based markers and ink to get a marbled look.  Oh and it works best on glossy paper to help blend the colors.

It is so much fun to play with different colors and get different effects every time.  It's hard to pick favorites but I really love the turtles.  We also have matching dies to cut out the turtles and emboss the shell.  Awesome!!

Jonathan loves to color and loves to stamp so he had a lot of fun.  We even found a Micheals $1.50 stamp that was a solid monster that worked beautifully with the technique.  His "tickle monster" had chicken spots - lol.

Hopefully my organizational chaos will be done soon and I will share some photos of my new room.  Maybe even a room tour on youtube.

Color Me Scrappy - Challenge #10

I almost forgot that today was the start of a new challenge over at Color Me Scrappy.  I got caught up in my reorganization.  That's right I'm working on my new craft room, finally "movin on up" from the unfinished basement to a wonderfully finished spare bedroom where I can put up shelves and make myself at home - more of that to come!!

Here's the new colors for Challenge #10 over at Color Me Scrappy.  Don't forget that they have a wonderful prize pack up for grabs for the month of August.  Such beautiful colors this time don't you think?

And here is my awesome layout!  I used a die cut sheet of patterned paper which I've been hoarding :-)  and some Basic Grey chipboard flowers that I got my hands on. The Sugar & Spice title is a flocked sticker that I had in my stash.

Hope you like it.  Don't forget to head over to the Color Me Scrappy blog and check out the rest of design teams layouts and link yours in for a chance to win!

Color Me Scrappy - Challenge #9

We have a treat for you this month.  Color Me Scrappy has joined together with Sketches in Thyme for a joint challenge. This was so much fun to do, take a look at the amazing sketch and color palette that we got to work with....

I have been hanging onto these super cute photos of the little tiny baby frogs that appeared one morning outside our house.  You had to be super careful walking across the driveway or even on the grass or you could have crushed one or many tiny frogs.  It was amazing and of course the kids loved it.

I love how my layout turned out, I even added some "sugar" under the focus photo - you can see the glitter shining in the photo.  I switched up the layout a little from the sketch but still have the general layout and got in five photos - which is a real challenge for me - I generally focus on one big picture all the time.

Well head on over the Color Me Scrappy and Sketches in Thyme to see what all the design team members came up with and don't forget to add a link to your layout for your chance to win a great prize.
Thanks for playing along with Color Me Scrappy!!

Celebrating 15 Years

My husband and I are celebrating our 15 year wedding anniversary tomorrow and what better way to celebrate than with a card :-) Well maybe a shopping trip to the states and seeing Cirque de Soleil Michael Jackson was a little more exciting!

I chose a Mo Manning stamped image that my mom gave me along with the sentiment to match. What a cute couple.

Enjoy the card and watch for the next Color Me Scrappy challenge - coming tomorrow.
