SYAO2 Week Four

Okay so week four and I am still going strong.  This one was fun because I've always looked at layered layouts like this and thought they would be cool but never tried it.  I'm not super happy with it but I think it was a good job.

Here's the sketch we used...
And here's my layout.  I used my minds eye paper in the background and the hexagons that were layered.  Some old lace that my mom gave me.  Flowers and bling were two of the embellishments I chose and then to round it off I used some rub-ons (the white on the brown patterned paper).  And then to top it off I sprayed everything (covering the photo) with Glimmer Mist.

SYAO2 Week Three

Well it's week three of Scrap Your Ass Off at Paper Secrets and I'm happy to say that I've completed my third challenge in time.

I decided to use some of my own pictures of me when I was little.  They've been sitting in a box and I figured it was time for them to come out and be scrapped.

Here's the layout and again the challenge was to use the scketch and then choose four embellishments and one technique.   This week one of the technique's was stitching and I kinda cheated on that because I used a piece of paper that was pre-stitched but nobody said you had to do the stitching yourself :-)

For the embellishments I chose flowers, staples, ribbon and of course bling!!
Feels good to get some scrapping done - especially some pictures that I've been hanging onto for so long.  Looking forward to doing more.

Scrappin Great Deals and Bo Bunny!!

This weekend JoAnn from BoBunny came all the way from Utah to Scrappin Great Deals in Kilworth.  I decided to sign up for the Sunday afternoon mini album class.  I have to say that I was there for three hours and came home with the base of the pages covered and that's it!!  It was intense and for me to say that is something cause I'm usually the first one done.  It didn't help that I wanted to distress every little piece.  But I stayed up for three hours on my own last night bound and determined to get it done and at 11:30pm I came up from the scrapping basement with a fninshed album.

The front cover is an acrylic sheet - I haven't done anything with it, not sure if I'm going to stamp it maybe.
Of course I deviated from the pattern to make it my own.  I didn't really like the sticker they used on the front cover so I picked a layered chipboard piece.
On all the stickers and chipboard pieces I sanded and inked to age them.  I didn't really like the look of fresh stickers :-)
This page has a pocket - the tag pulls out from the top.  Pretty much the only moveable item on the album.
Sorry about these pictures - not sure why they are coming in this way but I can't rotate them for some reason.  This pink page was my favourite.  I added some extra bling to it and did my paper upside down cause there was writing all over it and they had the writing upside down the way they laid it out.
Not much to say about this one - it was my least favorite.  The flowers were polyester so not much you can do with them, I still tried to add some ink to them so they weren't too bright.
And then these two were the ones that I messed up on.  The two pages before and these two pages were supposed to be one pattern paper on the background of each but I messed up on the first two so I did my own thing with the next two.  I know - crazy.
The back page I did all on my own, the patter was for just a plain page with no photos at all but I couldn't leave one whole page for nothing so I went to town.

All and all it was okay but I guess I'm more cut out for teaching than learning :-)

Valentine Mailboxes Finished

Well I've had these little guys done for a while and just hiding them out from the kids.  The are so cute.  I'm filling them up with cinnamon hearts and chocolate hearts.
This one is for Madison.
 For Jonathan
And then Jonathan helped me make this one for his babysitter.  He picked the picture and all the colours.
Here's a couple of side views.  It was fun finally getting these all decorated up and I really love the way they turned out.
Happy Valentines Day to everyone.  Hope you enjoy some time with your sweety or your little sweetie!!

SYAO2

Well it's week two of Scrap Your Ass Off.  And I finished my second layout.  I'm so excited that I got two layouts done in two weeks.  This is really going to help me keep up with all my scrapbooking.
Here's the layout...

And here's my layout - I love it.  Again you had to choose 4 embellishments, I used flowers, buttons, ribbon and border punch.  For the technique I chose misting which I did on the background with one of my Prima masks.  I really love the way the ribbon turned out, I actually stitched it up the middle to ruffle it.
Here's a close up of the flowers, I cut them out of the patterned paper and used my shaping tools to give them some dimension.  Added some super cute buttons in the middle.  The colors look so great together.  You can't really see but the actual background paper has a scroll embossing in it.
Here's a close up of the picture.  Gorgeous, it was a caterpillar that we found in the park when we were out for a walk.  I did some really cool close-ups of the the little furry guy.  I even cut out some leaves and a butterfly from the green patterned paper.  Also shaped them and popped them up.

Looking forward to sharing a new layout with you every week!!

Hockey Scrapbooking

Okay so I dropped off the baby album that I just posted and someone asked if I can do that with a Toronto Maple Leafs theme.  So you bet your booties, I can do anything!!

Don't tell Jeff - he doesn't like the Leafs!  Caught him napping during the game today.

Here's the tin - I kept it simple but added a little maple leaf in the centre of the flower - made with coffee filters and sprayed with Glimmer Mist - I'm addicted to them now.
Here's the cover - I used some metal alphabets on leather strips spelling out "Our Little Fan".  Then I printed the logos off of the computer - with Jeff's printer - he didn't like that very much.
These are all the tags that go into each of the pages.  If you want to see the rest you'll have to watch the you tube video here.  Sorry the filming was a bad one today.  The navy cardstock is really thick so it was sticking inside the pockets - very hard to take them out with one hand while you're holding the camera in the other.  I'm going to have to get a tripod.

Well hope you enjoyed - I'm sure the next time I scrapbook hockey it will be for the Jets.  Have some great pictures from the day they announced they were coming back to Winnipeg.

Baby Mini in a Tin

This isn't the mini that I mentioned in my last posting but it is the first one I got finished.  I used one of my cherished Maya Road Coffee Break tins that I've been hoarding.  Of course it's for a boy.
On the inside of the lid I've used a memory box that can hold a lock of hair or baby teeth or any other memorabilia that you want to see.  Very cute.
Each page is toilet paper roll style but made with paper.  Each tag has one side for journaling and the other side is blank for photos.  I even made some super cute and easy coffee filter flowers sprayed with glimmer mist.  I even used my Cricut - so happy!!
Well if you want to see the rest you'll have to head over to YouTube and watch my video here!

Getting Back on Track

I've been working on a couple of things and taking pictures as I go along but of course not following through and downloading the pictures to share with you.  So I'm going to try and get back on track...

First is some Valentines treat boxes for my kids.  I've been hanging onto these metal mailboxes from Targets Dollar Spot for a couple of years now and finally decided to pull them out - wait till you see the finished mailboxes - their hiding from the kids right now so I'll have to pull them out to take pictures.
Next we had Madison's 10th birthday party and she decided that she wanted to have a cupcake party.  So out came the Cricut and wow was that fun.  We did all the layers and then doubled up on the purple shadow in order to make it into a card.  The cherries are covered in crystal accents and you can't really see it but Madison lined all the pink frosting in Studio G glitter glue.  Madison was in charge of the cute pink cheeks with white dot accents.

The next pictures are for Paper Secrets.  I joined this forum last year to help get some inspiration and pretty much forgot about it.  But keep getting emails letting me know what's going on, so when I got the email inviting me to join "Scrap Your Ass off Two" I said why not!

A challenge is given every wednesday for a layout with a twist and you have 7 days to complete and post it in the gallery.  If you make the deadline you get to compete the next week and it keeps going on until there is only one person left standing - that person gets a gift certificate for Paper Secrets.

This weeks challenge was the following layout and then for the twist you had to pick 4 embellishments and 1 technique from the list provided.  I chose flowers, buttons, twine and chipboard for my embellishments and added some stamping to a tag for technique.  I really loved the layout but my pictures were pretty big for it.

Here's my completed layout...

Here's a close up of the tag - I used a folded over spellbinders label.  The tag beside is a mini chipboard tag from Maya Road that I painted with acrylic paint and then heated with my heating gun to get it to bubble and crack, I really love that affect, and then I brushed it with some brown ink to make it look even older.  Love the little birdie charm from Tim Holtz.

This one has two different mini tags also from Maya Road, one canvas tag and one chipboard banner which I sprayed with Glimmer Mist, love the sparkle.

I kept everything pretty simple but really love how it came out and I used alot of stuff that I've been hanging onto in my stash.
I think this challenge will help me keep the mojo going.

Stay tuned for the finished mailboxes and hopefully a new video of a super cute baby album that I'm working on.
